Embeds and Components V2
Send automated messages and Kaivor’s own posts as classic embeds or Components V2 messages.
Two message formats
A classic message is text with up to 10 embeds. A Components V2 message is built from containers, text, images, separators and buttons, and can hold up to 40 components and 4,000 characters of text. Build either kind in the Embed Creator on the dashboard.
Discord never converts a posted message between the two formats. Changing format means sending a new message.
Automated messages
Welcome, goodbye and boost messages, level-up messages, Vanity Role awards, autoresponders, timers, bump reminders, social notifications, moderation DMs, jail messages and review thank-you messages each take an embed script.
To send a Components V2 message instead, save it in the Embed Creator and use its name as the whole script:
welcome add #general {components: Welcome card}autoresponder add faq, {components: FAQ}timer add #general 6h {components: Daily reminder}embed {components: Server rules}
On the dashboard, the Welcome & Messages, Levels and Integrations pages have a Components V2 message option next to each script field.
Variables in the saved message, such as {user.mention} or {guild.name}, are filled in when it is sent. Conditions can choose between saved messages:
{if {user.boosts} > 0}{components: Booster welcome}{else}{components: Welcome card}{endif}
Rules for saved messages
- The name must match the saved message exactly, including capital letters. Kaivor lists the saved names when it cannot find one.
{components: Name}is the whole message. Text or an embed cannot sit beside it in the same branch.- Renaming a saved message in the Embed Creator updates every automated message that sends it.
- While an automated message sends it, a saved message cannot be deleted or turned into a classic embed. The Embed Creator shows what sends each one.
- If a saved message is missing when the time comes to send it, Kaivor sends nothing rather than an empty message.
Kaivor’s own messages
Giveaways, starboard posts, ticket panels and ticket messages, moderation case logs, server logs, reminders, the VoiceMaster interface, anti-nuke and anti-raid alerts, appeals, reports, social posts, moderation notices and now-playing cards are classic embeds by default.
Run settings messages v2, or choose Components V2 under Kaivor’s own messages in Server Settings, to receive them as Components V2 messages instead. Each keeps its colour, title, text, fields, thumbnail, image and footer. Inline fields are stacked, because Components V2 has no columns. Messages with files, such as ticket transcripts, stay classic.
settings messages embeds switches back. Messages already posted keep their format, and Kaivor edits each one in the format it was posted in.
